Harmony Garden
Women are born with many natural gifts! We are the cornerstone of families, the glue to relationships, we protect the arts and we see the injustice in the world. Harmony Garden builds collective community efforts that grow healthy girls to ensure the future health and wellness of our communities. Our mission is to build community partnerships to grow healthy girls through research, education, outreach, and advocacy. We combine traditional research with a Community-Based Participatory Research approach to involve residents directly in designing and carrying out initiatives to promote and support girls' health within their community. Our primary initiative has led to the establishment of a community resident research team in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, a community that experiences significant health disparities. This team of 5 women aims to give and collect information to promote the health of girls in their community. They have acquired research skills and have impacted over 1,000 residents who live in their community. The women have explored a variety of community health concerns for girl, including unintended pregnancy and violence, that community residents identified. In addition, they are working together with their community to find solutions to these community-wide concerns for girls' health.
